Yes, you have the skills needed to land an online job.
I have been around the online freelancing scene for quite a while, I have seen this trend, though optically but I am 90% sure this is true. Also, I have seen this in Upwork but I’m confident that the other platforms also have this trend.
These are the Top 3 Online Jobs that Filipinos are sought for and apply for:
- Virtual Assistant (earn ~10,000 to 30,000 a month) – do not be so surprised, with confidence I can say that this is the natural transition from years of working in the call center. Having worked with different accounts, brands, clients, tasks, telesales, customer support, chat, email, and etc; those who come from the BPO industry are the perfect fit for this job – our culture of being customer-centric (hospitality) and can do (diskarte) attitude are X factor.
- Customer Service (earn ~15,000 to 40,000 a month) – it goes back to the Philippines as the BIGGEST supplier of call center talent in the world. We have ready talent and skill, it is just a matter of tapping into this ready pool. There is this rising trend as well, home-based contact center; Cloud Contact Center Software is a mature technology now and it is starting a revolution. Your bedroom or home office will be the next call center.
- Data Entry (earn ~10,000 to 20,000 a month) – you don’t need a lot of experience, just the will to work and excel. Accuracy, speed, and patience is key here. An example of a data entry job is transferring a list of names and address from a PDF file to excel.
Validated based on actual observation
I have recruited for writers, graphic designers, VAs, data entry specialists, and developers over the years and the Top 3 mentioned above are the ones that always have the most applicants.
I have bid for jobs in the past mentioned on the Top 3 and almost always, there are more than 50 applicants – there’s a great pool talent out there and don’t worry, there are more opportunities coming.
